Associate Clinical Professor
After attending the University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy, Dr. 沙尔茨 received his dental degree from New York University College of Dentistry (NYUCD) in 1984. 毕业后, he practiced dentistry on Stevens Avenue in Portland, 缅因州至2013年, when a fire destroyed the building. He relocated to Scarborough, where he practiced until 2019. He joined the faculty at the UNE College of 口腔医学 in 2015.
Dr. 沙尔茨 maintains active membership and leadership roles in several dental and civic organizations. He is past President of both the Maine Dental Association (MDA) and the Greater Portland Dental Society (GPDS) and currently serves on the MDA Membership Services Subcommittee on Insurance. Dr. 沙尔茨 is a past member of the NYUCD 招生 Committee and former clinic instructor and lecturer at Westbrook College School of Dental Hygiene, 现在是新英格兰的一部分. Dr. 沙尔茨 is currently a consultant member/examiner for the Commission on Dental Competency Assessments- Western Regional Examining Board (CDCA-WREB). This is the testing body for the American Board of Dental Examiners (ADEX) that administers licensing exams to graduating dental and hygiene students.
Dr. 沙尔茨 is a past Board Chair of the Maine Board of Northeast Delta Dental Insurance. Dr. 沙尔茨 has completed the Executive 教育 program “Making Corporate Boards More Effective” at the Harvard Executive 业务 School. He is co-founder of the Dentists Who Care for ME program, a day of free dentistry for those in need in the Greater Portland community. Since the project began in 2009, its efforts have resulted in over one million dollars of donated dental services. The program was turned over to the MDA in 2018 which now administers the program with the UNE College of 口腔医学 being a major participant.
此外，Dr。. 沙尔茨 is a member of the Casco Bay Study Club, an affiliate of the Seattle Study Club, which focuses on inter-disciplinary treatment with multiple specialty practices for best patient outcomes. Dr. 沙尔茨 has achieved Fellowship status in several organizations: Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), the International College of Oral Implantology (ICOI), American College of Dentists (ACD), and the International College of Dentists (ICD), and he was also inducted into the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Dr. 沙尔茨 currently serves as the ICD District 1 Deputy Regent for Maine. Dr. 沙尔茨 also serves in leadership roles on non-dental boards within the Greater Portland community, and is an active member of the Maine Police Emerald Society.
